The Mustang and Capri are almost identical under the sheet metal. With the right tools and parts a 460 big block will fit in the engine bay. A V-8 from a Mustang will fit right in there with the right engine mounts. Watch out for matching the computer up with the engine, but computers can be reprogrammed or swappe out.

Can you replace an 83 ford capri V-6 engine with a newer mustang engine?

If so how new can I use?Can you replace an 83 ford capri V-6 engine with a newer mustang engine?Yes you can, Get yourself a donor car that has the engine you want. I would look for a wrecked mustang that runs. That way you have all the parts you need including wiring harness and computers. I would stick with a late 80's or early 90's mustang. You could probably use the transmission from that car also. Can you replace an 83 ford capri V-6 engine with a newer mustang engine? You can pretty much put any engine into anything if u have room. YOu gotta make sure the transmission will couple to the engine. If not adapters and or new holes can be machined at a machine shop of course to make it fit. Also driveline may need to be increase or decrease in lenghtCan you replace an 83 ford capri V-6 engine with a newer mustang engine? You could but on the newer ones they'll be using Fuel Injection so you will need all the wiring harnesses and the computer.
