How do I add and check the transmission fluid on a 1993 Ford Tempo?
I have a 93' Ford Tempo that changes gear weird and takes time to change when first starting up. I just bought this car and it's been sitting for about two years. Checked fluid and it's reallly low, so about how many quarts will I need on average to get it running right? ThanksHow do I add and check the transmission fluid on a 1993 Ford Tempo? If you don't see any on the transmission fluid dipstick (not the motor oil dipstick, but you knew that), you need at least two quarts, maybe more. Just spring for the gallon jug and you should be fine--pour it in a quart at a time and check the dipstick after you give each quart a while to settle in. Also, don't forget that when you check on the trans fluid level it should be with the engine warm. I don't have a tempo, but on most cars the tube that holds the dipstick is also the fill tube--use a funnel and pour it there.
