I might buy a 98 ford explorer 4dr 2wd v6 150k miles Do this truck have a timing belt? How much to replace it?

I don't have much money so i need something affordable and to get me to work.

Anyone had any problems with their 98 ford explorer 4dr v6 2wd?

Do it require alot of maintence? Thanks.I might buy a 98 ford explorer 4dr 2wd v6 150k miles Do this truck have a timing belt? How much to replace it?The V6 does not have a timing belt it is a chain. With the miles on it the vehicle it could have allot of mechanical issues depending on how well it was maintained. My advice is buy something else like a small car.I might buy a 98 ford explorer 4dr 2wd v6 150k miles Do this truck have a timing belt? How much to replace it?Oh dear! If you don't have much money, get rid of it now!

They have a timing chain which is prone to wear: A friend of mine had one that went at 60,000 miles - very expensive!

You'll get around 22mpg, and they're generally VERY unreliable. Really, a pointless piece of crap.

It's a big car, so tyres will be expensive too - this is NOT going to be cheap motoring however you look at it!I might buy a 98 ford explorer 4dr 2wd v6 150k miles Do this truck have a timing belt? How much to replace it?They are horrible. My friend just got rid of his. He had a 98 explorer sport. Horrible gas mileage the thing just sounded like it was going to die. His only had about 111,000 miles on it. Fords are not reliable cars stuff starts breaking left and right after 100,000 miles. It would be in your bet to not buy this truck. The timing belt will be the least of your worries. You will spend $5-600 on the timing belt.

Get yourself a honda!
