What happens when premium gas is put in a regular gas car, Ford Escort?

Without my glasses on, I put premium unleaded in my Ford escort. It only takes regular. What could happen and what should I do?What happens when premium gas is put in a regular gas car, Ford Escort?Money will disappear from your wallet.

Premium gas has higher octane levels. Octane is basically a "power" level, but more is not necessarily better.

Too low octane, and your engine might "knock" (kind of a shudder"). Most run just fine on regular. If an engine requires a higher octane, you use the higher fuel. But if it doesn't require it, it's sort of a waste, because your engine can't take advantage of it.

I have one vehicle that has a custom engine and requires super premium (which I give it). The rest just require regular fuel, and to put in super would just be a waste of money, because it wouldn't make them drive or perform any better.

You didn't hurt anything, you just paid for a gas quality you didn't need. What happens when premium gas is put in a regular gas car, Ford Escort?
Both 4 cylinder engines I had would knock with cheap (regular) fuel. Always used mid grade or premium after calculating it would only cost me 75$ per year to use the higher octane fuel.

I only use regular grade in lawnmowers.

What happens when premium gas is put in a regular gas car, Ford Escort?honest it good to put premium gas in a car, if you can afore, the price, i do it for time to time to help clean the val, but it will not hurt the car, only cost more
nothing will happen. Premium unleaded is the same as Regular unleaded. The only difference is the amount of Octane. The only time you would have to worry is if you put diesel in your car. What happens when premium gas is put in a regular gas car, Ford Escort?Nothing . Your car will run better plus you got cleaner fuel. What happens when premium gas is put in a regular gas car, Ford Escort?
nothing it cleans your vulva's its good for your car
it does not matter much as this get burnt soon, there may not be any sever impact for short duration next time care may be taken,What happens when premium gas is put in a regular gas car, Ford Escort?
Don't worry, be happy......... All you did was to spend an extra dollar or two. No problem.
well if you got the gas at a gas station then its safe for your car unless its diesel fuel. regular, plus, and premium are all the same except for the octane rating which that only means the more expensive gas burns cleaner and cleans it out. I have a 98 Ford Ranger and i always put the plus in mine. I would have to say that if your car is before 96 then you can put the cheap stuff in because the fuel emissions doesn't matter in a 95 and earlier.
All it means is that your putting in a higher octane of gas. Keeping that in general premium gas is excellent for a car. That will give you better gas mileage as well. It burns cleaner to and will never harm your engine. If you have pings in your motor, normally premium makes your engine lifters run a bit more quiet as well.
If you've read How Car Engines Work, you know that almost all cars use four-stroke gasoline engines. One of the strokes is the compression stroke, where the engine compresses a cylinder-full of air and gas into a much smaller volume before igniting it with a spark plug. The amount of compression is called the compression ratio of the engine. A typical engine might have a compression ratio of 8-to-1. (See How Car Engines Work for details.)

The octane rating of gasoline tells you how much the fuel can be compressed before it spontaneously ignites. When gas ignites by compression rather than because of the spark from the spark plug, it causes knocking in the engine. Knocking can damage an engine, so it is not something you want to have happening. Lower-octane gas (like "regular" 87-octane gasoline) can handle the least amount of compression before igniting.

The compression ratio of your engine determines the octane rating of the gas you must use in the car. One way to increase the horsepower of an engine of a given displacement is to increase its compression ratio. So a "high-performance engine" has a higher compression ratio and requires higher-octane fuel. The advantage of a high compression ratio is that it gives your engine a higher horsepower rating for a given engine weight -- that is what makes the engine "high performance." The disadvantage is that the gasoline for your engine costs more
your safe dont worry. it will probably run better so you may get better acceleration and mileage. just drive it its not going to hurt anything.
It's a old Wife's tale that your engine will run better (or benefit at all)

It DOESN'T Hurt anything OR Help Anything. It's just a WASTE OF MONEY.
the best thing to do is drain the fuel tank but that is a big job the other alternative would be to mix your regular fuel with the premium ie put afew gallons of your normal fuel in.
you will get beter performance and better fuel economy.

And you will pollute less!

EVERYONE should put it in all the time to reduce pollution!
