I have a 1984 ford 351 windsor out of my my old pick up and thought about using it on my airboat. This will be the first airboat i've built. Can the engine be converted and if so how much work will it be. How can I convert a ford 351 into an airboat motor.?you will neeed to use a belt or gear reduction system it is important to keep the proprller tip speed below the speed of sound. there are many gear reduction systems available also you will need to use a pusher prop
For cooling use a good heavy duty radiator and hoses.
here are two sites to help you get started

I hope you have a lot of fun building your air boat. How can I convert a ford 351 into an airboat motor.?you can use the motor as is with an alum radiator and reduction gear. or change the cam to change the tourqe curve and eliminate the reduction gear. you might see which one would give you better fuel economy. i dont know.
