How can I get better fuel economy from my lpg ford econovan?

I have a 1998 ford econovan 2lt carby model it returns me between 19.5 and 22.5 lts per hundred. I had the gas fitted 15 months ago when the car had only 28,000 kilometres on the clock it now has 52,000 and the fuel consumption seem to be getting worse I had it tuned just recently by the installers, the auto transmission seviced, and new tyres fitted so every thing is tip top. I have heard that setting the timing to a little advanced or retarded may help although the installer said he attended to this( I do not have alot of faith in my installer) It seems to me that I have lost power since the tune up both on petrol and gas, when it was first installed it seem to provide better economy and power. u r rite bout setting the mode to advance or retard, but the main reason for the mileage is how u pump the pedal to the floor,

most people use a heavy foot resulting in poor mileage

another main reason is the traffic time you r stuck in,,,idling engine of 1000 cc and above for above 3 mnts leads to gradual loss of fuel/gas and hence mileage

also get ur spark plugs cables air filter checked

keep the tyre pressure as per norms as well the PUC levels buddy

I'm going to assume it uses an electronic distributor as well, so yes you could advance the timing to get more power with less fuel consumption. If it is carburated, you may look into what kind of carburator is used, there may be replaceable jets that you can downsize for fuel economy. Simple things such as tune ups, tire pressure, driving style, engine temps, will all affect mpg (kpg i guess in your case) There are lots of answers to your issue, you may want to have a professional mechanic look at the vehicle....I'm not familiar with carbed vehicles this new....???How can I get better fuel economy from my lpg ford econovan?
Drive it less.How can I get better fuel economy from my lpg ford econovan?Theres not much you can do to save fuel as the car gets old, the engine works harder. If your really willing, get a full engine flush to get rid of the build-up of debry inside the engine to make it run smooth. Get rid of the excess weight also helps. I'm not to sure about cars that run on gas with a carby though....



If your worrying about fuel prices and trying to save, maybe you should just catch public transport or perhaps buy a new smaller car with better economy.
