I am replacing the clutch of my 89 ford ranger, 4 cylinder standard transmission truck. I got partially through but got stuck on the removal of the drive shaft. I need to get the drive shaft out but cannot find detailed instructions on how to do so. Anyone know? How do I remove the drive shaft from an 89 ford ranger?Take the bolts out holding it to the rear differential pinion. If it is a split shaft you will also have to remove the bolts holding the center bearing to the frame.
Are you sure that is all that has you stuck? How do I remove the drive shaft from an 89 ford ranger?
The driveshaft slides into the trans but is bolted to the rear end . You will need to unbolt it from third member . Look about half way up driveshaft and see if it has a center carrier . If so this will have to be unbolted also . If not one there , driveshaft will come out of trans . Sometimes you have to "nudge" it with a hammer . Now if front of truck is higher up tan rear , you are going to lose some fluid unless you have a tailshaft plug . You can get one at NAPA - well worth the money .How do I remove the drive shaft from an 89 ford ranger? And be ready- When you pull the output shaft out of the tranny, the tranny fluid will be right behind it, and all over the floor - or you.How do I remove the drive shaft from an 89 ford ranger?
