What do you guys think about ford probes?

I'm looking at a 1997 ford probe, not the GT version, but there is a GT version that I'm also interested in. Point is, what do you think about Ford Probes? Are they reliable, good gas, all those things. Just give me your opinion on the car. Thanks to all those who help.What do you guys think about ford probes?my 94 2nd gen that i got for 600 bux is running great, i put on 4k miles since i got it , all i did was change the oil and upgraded to a zr-1 filter, and it is running strong at 206k miles on origional engine and trans. i know it needs o2 sensors and a tune up but i am still getting 24 mpg in the city.



the only issue i know with probes and mx-6s is that the distributor can go bad out of no where and then you need a new or used one to replace it with.

i have owned 4 of the older ones and one of the newer ones,the only problems i ever had from them was the distributors going bad in them and a new one was around a 1000 bucks ,and used 500 i had a 96 gt and the distributor went out in it,i replaced it and got rid of it,other than that they are good running cars,everyone i have seen has gave problems with the distributors though so be careful they are expensive to work on,good luck.
There ok but not the best...if you want a better car i would recamend an older honda like a 93 for about the same price...i just think that would be better than an almost 10 year old ford...What do you guys think about ford probes?

They're not BAD cars, but they're pretty unremarkable in power and handling, as well.



They're mechanically closely related to the Mazda MX-6, which also is a pretty mediocre car.





If you like the looks of the car, I say go for it. Just be prepared for the occasional mechanical or electrical failure.

bad distributers heads and head gasket blow alot overall not a good car if u wanna ford like that go with a mustang or GT or even a thunderbird probe are their worst car built
