I have a 2000 ford ranger and i wanted to look at engine to put in it in the future. Could i replace it with a v8?What kind of engine would be good for a 2000 Ford Ranger?if you want to stay smog legal, I would hop up the 4.0 SOHC. the new Mustangs use it and have over 200 hp. with 400 possible..What kind of engine would be good for a 2000 Ford Ranger?
I wouldn't . Go back with the 3.0 or the 3.4 liter that was made for that vehicle. Mine has the 3.0 Has 100,000 + miles running strong. What kind of engine would be good for a 2000 Ford Ranger?depends on your state and whether or not you have to keep it emissions legal. you could do a 5.0 swap pretty easily. if you want to upgrade get a 4.0 OHV[old style] and you can rebuild those to put out some nice powerWhat kind of engine would be good for a 2000 Ford Ranger?
Ford Motor Company had three engines available for United States-market Rangers: a 4-2.3 (my 1994 has this format), a V6-3.0 and (standard on the 4x4) a V6-4.0. To my knowledge, a Windsor V8 (e.g., the 255, 289 or 302) would be a shoehorn fit due to the tight engine compartment.
I wouldn't recommend attempting to fit any engine physically larger than the 255, 289 or 302 Windsor, as the Triton, Cleveland, Michigan and Lima V8s would force major modifications to the Ranger's front end due to dimensional constraints (primarily length of cylinder block). What kind of engine would be good for a 2000 Ford Ranger?preferably one that takes good care of kittens
Love You peace out homie
