How do you fix a broken door handle on a 2000 Ford Escape?

The outside handle of my 2000 Ford Escape will not open the door. I can open it from inside the car. How do you remove the panel to fix it and what might the problem be?How do you fix a broken door handle on a 2000 Ford Escape?Obviously the problem is the loose nut grabbing the handle from the outside!

NO....the problem is that the handle has a small ear broke off on the inside of the door. the rod that moves the door latch hooks into this ear and they wear out over time. to fix it you have to take all the screws out of the door pannel then pop the clips out of thier lock slots in the door itself. then you reach inside the door where you can't see .........undo two nuts that hold the handle on then remove it from the outside.
