How do you program a keyless entry remote for a 2001 Ford Taurus?

I had to replace the battery in my keyless entry remote for a 2001 Ford Taurus. How do you get it to work with the car again??How do you program a keyless entry remote for a 2001 Ford Taurus?Hi Bethany

The directions, complete with diagrams, are shown on page 72 of the owners manual.

If you don't have a manual for your 2001 Taurus, you can download one (free) from the Ford/Lincoln?Mercury Owners Website.

I'll paste the text from that page for you here, but if you want to have the entire manual (for future reference), you can use the links that i will provide in the "source" area below.

I hope this helps!

Programming remote transmitters

It is necessary to have all (maximum of four 鈥?original and/or new) of

your remote transmitters available prior to beginning this procedure.

To program the transmitters yourself:

虏 Place the key in the ignition and

turn from 2 (LOCK) to 3 (OFF)

and cycle between 3 (OFF) and

4(ON) eight times in rapid

succession (within 10 seconds)

with the eighth turn ending in the

4 (ON) position. The doors will

lock/unlock to confirm that

programming mode has been entered.

虏 Within 20 seconds, program a remote transmitter by pressing any

button on a transmitter. The doors will lock/unlock to confirm that the

remote transmitter has been programmed. (If more than 20 seconds

pass before pressing a remote transmitter button, the programming

mode will exit and the procedure will have to be repeated.)

虏 Repeat the previous step to program additional remote transmitters.

The doors will lock/unlock to confirm that each remote transmitter has

been programmed.

虏 When you have completed programming the remote transmitters, turn

the ignition to 3 (OFF) or wait 20 seconds. Again the doors will

lock/unlock to confirm programming has been completed.

___________end copy_________________How do you program a keyless entry remote for a 2001 Ford Taurus?you can try to cycle the key in the ignition from off to on 8-10 times within 10 seconds, do not start the car. After doing this the door lock should cycle from locked to unlocked by themselves. Once the door locks cycle, press the lock or unlock button on the remote, the car should respond according to the button pressed. I'm not sure if this is going to work on this car but its worth the shot
