I need help figuring out the best way to run a wire from my battery to my amp in my 1999 ford explorer. Does the power wire have to be plugged directly into the battery or will any hot wire work? As you can tell this is the first time i have done this.What is the best why to run a power wire for an amp in a 99 ford explorer?it's in your best interest to hook it directly to the battery. due to the high current draw from most amplifiers, they will need a larger wire than a factory hard wire can provide.
the larger wire is important for both clean sound, and hopefully in avoiding catching your car on fire.
