What is the driver unlock relay in a 1997 ford taurus?

I have a 1997 ford taurus and my driver's door used to unlock if i left the key in the ignition and i locked the doors. My dad was working on my car and was messing with the fuse box. He did something to the driver unlock relay. Could that relay be the problem to why it is not unlocking anymore?
