Reason for wanting to become Police Officer:
As a kid, I was bullied by a racist kid (I'm asian) and it has been continuing until Grade 9, where I finally brought the harassment to a halt. I want to become a Police Officer because I want to prevent and stop these kind of things from happening in our society, bring justice to and protect others, not to get revenge for the bullying. Can I be a police detective and is the job right for me?
Sorry to break this to you pal, but none of the crap that you mentioned there really makes any difference.
To become a detective, you have to first get hired as a police officer. That involves passing competitive written and oral examinations and successfully clearing physical, background, credit and psychological checks. If you score high enough, and qualify, you get to go to the academy which can last anywhere for 4 to 6 months. If you get through the academy, and your probationary period, and work a number of years as an exemplary patrol officer, you might be lucky enough to apply for a detectives position, according to your department's regulations.
Your fascination with guns, video games, fantasy things and bullying make me very, very skeptical that you would make it past the psychological part of the process. Can I be a police detective and is the job right for me?
This is a pretty big ambition for a 15 year old. Wait until you ready to pick a college or university to go to and make up your mind then. Can I be a police detective and is the job right for me?
You are not going to pass the psych test. Best Answer?
Have you ever seen the long running show on Fox Cops, and the show on Spike DEA. Those shows should give you some ideas how it is in that line of work. What it does not show is the paper work side of it and other stuff. That is when a cop or and agent back in the office. All the stuff impaler19120 have said are true about going into this line work, Well for a city cop. Being a Federal agent is a little different and harder.
