Please help me edit my who is my hero essay? (:?

My Hero

Superman, Batman, Spiderman, Mr. Incredible, are all super heroes people strive to be like. A hero according to Webster's dictionary a hero, is someone often found in children's comics, possessing extraordinary, often magical powers. Geof Grooms is no superhero, but is considered a hero to me. Geof Grooms is my hero because he provides for me and my family, gives me good, honest advice, and he is also a great example of how to handle tough situations.

Geof Grooms provides for me and my family in many different ways. He has multiple jobs to support us financially; he works for the county and for the First Baptist Church in High springs. He is a very busy person, but always has time to spend with me and my family. He comes to all of my volleyball games, and encourages me in everything I do.

Geof Grooms also gives me good and honest advice when I need it. If I need help with something, he always knows what to do, what to say, or sometimes when to not say anything at all. When I need help with math he is there to teach me. When I need help with the situations life throws at you he helps me. I'm so thankful for how he can help get me through the tough situations.

Sometimes life gives you tough situations, and you don't know how to handle them. Geof Grooms is a great example of how to handle those tough situations. Geof Grooms had a rough life growing up as a kid, but he never lets them affect himself as a father and adult. Geof Grooms lost his mother at an early age and when she was alive Mr. Grooms and Mrs. Grooms did not get along. Geof Grooms's brother has no job, and can't support himself financially. Geof Grooms not only supports me and my family, but also his brother.

My dad Geof Grooms has been the best dad anyone could ask for, and I wouldn't trade him for anything. He has given me advice that has gotten me through many things, and will hopefully still be around to guide me in the future. He has also given me a wonderful example of how I want to treat the friends I have now and how I want to treat my future family that I plan to have. Although he can't fly, or shoot spider webs out of his hands I like him just the way he is and don't want him to change.

** heres my essay im in the 9th grade and was assigned to write a 500 word essay and if you took the time to count the words you would come to find thier are about 430.. meaning I must fit 70 more words in their some how. I guess I will find a way but the main thing I want you to do is correct and tell me how to improve on what I have thus far :D THANKS also if you havent figured it out the topic is Who is your Hero and I chose my daddy (:Please help me edit my who is my hero essay? (:?
If you want to go the superhero route, I would make a bigger distinction between superheroes and heroes. Also, I'm not sure people strive to be like superheroes. The definition you gave was for a superhero not ah hero. I would instead define a hero (distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities) and then describe the "courageous and noble" qualities you see in your father.
