-When I was a kid, Pluto was a planet.
-Trix actually looked like fruit, which made it the best cereal.
-It turns out that the tourist attraction the Four Corners is actually two miles off from the true four corners.
-Instead of good shows like JLA, Batman, Hey Arnold and others, now every show has to be politically correct or instill ideas of perfection and happiness in kids.
Back in my day, the dream job was astronaut, fire fighter, cop, president, etc. Now it's rapper, celebrity, etc. I've heard kids say "I want to be like Paris Hilton/ Britney Spears/ Lindsay Lohan."
-Finally, by 90's standards, Dora was adventurous and a model child (much better than Dora the Video Game Player). By today's standards, she's a model case for CPS.
Anyways, what are your thoughts?POLL: For kids from the 90's or earlier?
Poor Pluto must feel rejected.
Children do not have the fun, great cartoons, even if they do not know it.
What about a blackboard or white board, these are no longer, renamed now.
I agree, the children of today, miss the freedom of an innocent upbringing, they are taught to be politically correct immediately.
Also, here in Australia with current water restrictions, children no longer have the opportunity to play with running water, run through/under sprinklers, etc. What a favourite past time that was that my children will not get to do, although am hoping rain water tanks allow them water play time.
Communication and playing/talking with friends was actually outside, face to face fun, not myspace, facebook, twitter, msn etc.
I am grateful and will cherish the childhood i had, not feel like it was ruined, i feel lucky i had it, unlike children of today.
But, what they don't know, does not worry them, they will look back and their present day will differ from their childhood.
I agree. I was born in 1990. I miss Rugrats (once they did the Rugrats grown up series that just turned to crap!), Rocko's Mordern Life, Are you afraid of the dark?, Arthur, Rubert Bear, Hey Arnold, Pinky and the Brain, Zoom, Doug, Dexter's Laboratory, Gullah Gullah Island, Out of The Box, Keenan and Kel, The Angry Beavers, Lizzie McGuire, and many more!!!
*sigh* I miss the good ole' days :'(
Oh and BTW...Pluto isn't considered a planet anymore?!?! Wow...POLL: For kids from the 90's or earlier?
Yep !
I remember my childhood.
On one channel would be Batman and Robin battling The Joker, (Vincent Price).
Another channel would be riots at colleges or political conventions.
Another channel with executions, and people setting themselves afire in Vietnam.
Another channel with Yosemite Sam chasing, (That dad-blamed idgit of a rabbit!) with a shotgun.
Another with leaders being shot in Memphis, and Los Angeles.
And to end them days Richard Millhouse Nixon on TV with jowls ashaken, (I am not a Crook!)
Where those the good-ole days ?
Yeah the 90's were great! You know, this saturday i woke up early and went to all the channels i watched for saturday morning cartoons, and guess what! THERE WERE NO SATURDAY MORNING CARTOONS, only INFOMERCIALS. Honestly... kids in the 90's LIVED for saturday morning. What the hell happened?!POLL: For kids from the 90's or earlier?
i agree...i spent most of my childhood playing outside....towing my cassette player..blasting m.c. hammer's "u cant touch this" inside my little red radio flyer wagon..
..i still want Santa to bring me my hungry hungry hippos board game that he promised me about 20 yrs ago..
..i remember the ghostbusters and seeing that gigantic marshmallow man and thinking he'd taste great between a layer of chocolate and graham crackers..
awwwww...i miss those days....
Nickelodeon was so much better in the 90's
i love the 90's
life was better back then -.- when i was like 5 xD
I grew up with the random violence of Bugs Bunny and Roadrunner in the 70s. So I'm not sure the past is all that great.
I don't feel like it was ruined. I still have good memories of my childhood in the 90's and I try to be a kid at heart whenever possible :)
Hey Arnold! should come back though :P
The 90's were more about carefree fun.
Music wise: Mc Hammer, the Spice Girls and Hanson were cool. You could listen to the songs with your kids and it was all good. The music was laid back and interesting - it wasn't about women dressing trashy and singing in massively altered voices that make them sound better than they are. And don't get me started about alot of male singers. They sing about being "playaz", carring guns and doing illegal substances - not cool.
I remember growing up with He-Man, TMNT, Jem and the Holograms and My Little Pony etc. Nowdays we have all these one hit wonder shows that have nothing unique about them. You notice that shows like Postman Pat, The Magic Roundabout and Fireman Sam have been revamped and brought back.
Computer games have gotten WAY to technical for me. Do you remember getting out your old SNES or PS1 and battling your friends on Mario Cart and Mortal Kombat? I still have a SNES and PS1 with those games. The new 3D versions have just made the games even more complicated than they were before. I just find this whole 3D thing to be really annoying (but I still got a PS2 didn't I?) lol
